World Percussion, Drum Set, African Drumming


Born in New York City, May 1977, Brian’s early connection to music came as a child.

As a drummer, percussionist Currently Teaching and performing in the Raleigh North Carolina area, Brian has actively been a member of the New York music community, Performing for high profile artist throughout the clubs and studios in New York City. You could walk into many of the live music clubs of New York and find the likes of Freddie Jackson, Elizabeth Withers, Mary J. Blige and Chaka Khan, just to name a few, and find Brian holding down the groove on drum set or percussion.


Not only has Brian Performed with various recording artist, He has also performed with dance and theatre companies such as: The Dance Theatre of Harlem, Harlem School of the Arts, The Alvin Alley Dance Company and a hand full of African dance troops throughout the city. As a result of his extensive studies of Africa Music and Rhythms, Brain is the Hampden’s resident authority on African and world music studies.


In the summer of 1996, Brian was offered a job at the Hit Factory Recording studios, where he had the opportunity to work closely with major recording artist such as: Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Faith Evans, Mariah Carey, Mase, Method Man, Janet Jackson, Paul Simon, Luther Vandross and many others. Along with his father, Ivan Hampden Jr. and brothers, Iajhi & Brevan, they are performing, teaching and building a family music business in North Carolina.


Appling his recording and composition skill, Brian has teamed up with other young songwriters and producers to write and produce material for up and coming recording artist.


Brian’s latest venture will take him on the road with recording artist and singer M in the fall and winter months of ahead.
